When considering comparing your talent, and their performance with the industry - be realistic. Keep in mind that the data wont change overnight. Focus on small improvements and celebrate the progress that is made. Consistently check the benchmarks you choose, and make small steps in the right direction. A 1% improvement is still an improvement!

Do not forget the essential tasks One of the important aspects of creating performance standards is to include essential tasks and tasks. As you want to have enough standards for your company's goals and values, you need to limit the number of these standards. You can create this balance by including the main and essential tasks of the company.

The chosen metric should align with business goals and relate to the expected outcomes of the organization. Different industries have different key KPIs; for example, in the telecommunications field, service availability is the highest priority. After identifying the KPI, I can refer to the average performance in the same industry. For instance, if my company operates in the telecommunications field, I will find out what the average service availability is in the industry. If the current performance of my company is lower than the industry average, I will investigate the reasons and verify solution to improve.
