How can you handle client conflicts over cost-cutting?

Listen actively to your client's concerns and objections. Understanding their perspective is crucial for finding common ground and addressing specific issues they may have with the cost-cutting measures.

Respect job and experience you own. Respect all people regardless hierarchy. Be your self and little bit of Gorge Clooney if required. :-). Love your family and your self. ;-)

Foster open and transparent communication with your client. Discuss the reasons behind the cost-cutting measures and ensure the client understands the necessity for the changes. Clearly articulate the value and benefits that your services or products continue to provide despite the cost-cutting.

Propose alternative solutions that align with the client's budget constraints. This might include adjusting the scope of work, prioritizing certain features, or finding more cost-effective methods while still meeting their core requirements.

Em um contrato com orçamento apertado, não há margem para desvios, por menores que sejam. Desta forma, é essencial que todos os limites e responsabilidades estejam claramente definidos tanto na proposta quanto no contrato, evitando discussões recorrentes sobre itens inclusos e excluídos, bem como sobre os limites de fornecimento e responsabilidades. Além disso, é importante documentar detalhadamente todas as reduções de custo acordadas, incluindo justificativas e impactos esperados.

Reaffirm to the client that they know exactly what we’re doing :) Perhaps another meeting of the minds to show them it is in all best interest and why they hired us. Mainly relationships and passing the cost in to them. Even include the workers or subcontractors and accounting to answer any concerns. Before moving forward however, confirm they are comfortable with it in writing

Um bom caminho para muitas negociações é sair da discussão de posições (preços, quantidades, descontos) e focar na negociação de interesses (necessidades, preocupações, riscos, expectativas), isto agrega valor intangível ao que está sendo negociado.

Dejar claro el trabajo que se realizara, muchos clientes no tienen idea que es lo que hace un arquitecto, piensan que solo nos dedicamos a dibujar, hay todo un trabajo por detrás, así el cliente se siente más cómodo con tu trabajo.

Participar de forma colaborativa con todos los agentes desde las fases iniciales del proceso. Implicar a todos, incluido el cliente final y los proveedores en el diseño y definición y mostrar " las cartas", mediante contratos colaborativo y open books, minimiza conflictos y garantiza control de desviaciones minimizando sorpresas.
