Today several orgs have moved to fancy automated solutions & if you ask them if they have a good view of their own org talent list (I mean which employee has what talent, what each employee's current skills, work in progress skills, aimed skills & which skills the org demands from each employee what the progress/status is), not many orgs will have answer. Lunching a great tool doesnt solve all the problems. How much is the tool used by employees, how reliable are the data should become the accountability of talent team. Talent shortage can be avoided if this database is maintained up-to-date by all employees. Emp owns their plan but talent team should monitor it.
