  • When a child’s safety and wellbeing are at risk, play is often the first thing lost 💔 But play is how children connect, express themselves, develop confidence, and begin to heal, especially in times of crisis. At Save the Children, we create safe spaces where children can do what they do best: play, learn, and thrive ⭐ Whether it’s in a classroom, a child-friendly space in a refugee camp, or simply at home, play gives children the chance to recover and grow. 🎲 That’s why we’ve created a free play guide for parents and caregivers of children aged 7–11 featuring 6 easy game ideas to help you connect, have fun, and support your child’s development at home. 👪 Playing with your child, whatever their age, supports them, you, and your relationship. And if you run out of ideas? Let them lead the way. After all, they’re the play experts! Take a look at the guide below and save it! ⬇️

    • One in six children today lives in a conflict zone. • 85 million are entirely out of school — the highest number ever recorded. • The global child rights agenda is under threat. In our latest episode, Inger Ashing, CEO of Save the Children International, offers a gripping and deeply informed view into the frontline realities children are facing, from war zones in Sudan to flood-affected communities in Pakistan. This is not just about need. It’s about resilience. It’s about children acting as agents of change. And it’s about what we know works, because Save the Children has the data, partnerships, and lived experiences to prove it. Inger shares: • How education in emergencies is life-saving • The real stories behind "forgotten crises" • How they’re making knowledge a global public good If you're in philanthropy, policy, global development or ESG — or you simply believe every child deserves a future — this is essential listening. 🎧 Listen to The Do One Better Knowledge Hub and Podcast now to understand why investing in children isn’t just the right thing to do — it’s the smartest strategy for long-term change. 👇 Link in the comments. #ChildRights #EducationInEmergencies #HumanitarianResponse #ChildrenInConflict #SaveTheChildren #ChildProtection #SDG4 #LeaveNoOneBehind #GlobalDevelopment #Resilience #Philanthropy #SocialImpact #INGO #ConflictResponse

  • Since the conflict in Sudan erupted more than two years ago, children’s lives have been upended. We spoke to 450 children who told us harrowing stories of terror and loss after their homes in Sudan’s North Darfur region were attacked. 🔴 They've witnessed killings and dead bodies in the streets, with some reporting witnessing young people being arrested or killed. 🔴 Many have lost contact with friends and loved ones. 🔴 Children also cited poor living conditions, sleeping on the ground, extreme heat, food shortages and the presence of armed individuals, as sources of distress. 🔴 Girls reported high levels of fear and vulnerability, particularly when using toilets or traveling long distances for water. 8.8 million people remain internally displaced in Sudan. More than half are children. This conflict must end now. 📣 We are urging the international community to redouble efforts to demand a ceasefire in Sudan, to allow safe and unhindered humanitarian access and a drastic scale-up of humanitarian assistance. Swipe through to hear from the children that have been displaced in North Darfur👉 #Sudan #StopTheWarOnChildren

  • In 2024, children once again faced significant challenges, crises, and threats to their rights ❌ We stood side by side with children in the world’s toughest places and continued to deliver life-saving support for children and their families, making significant progress against our global strategy despite tough operating conditions. Last year, working together with children, local communities, and our local, national, and international partners:  ❤️ We reached more than 113.6 million children in 113 countries with our life-changing work.  ⚠️ We responded to the needs of children and communities affected by 112 new and ongoing emergencies in 75 countries.  ✅ We influenced 122 policy, legislative, system, services, and budget changes for children, with children actively involved in influencing at least 45% of these achievements. You can read more about our progress and impact in 2024, in our new digital Impact Report ➡️ https://lnkd.in/eYACXg_2

  • “In prison they used to beat me a lot. I couldn't talk to my parents or friends or even a lawyer" - Fadi*, 17, former child detainee. And just like Fadi*, there are thousands of child detainees being arrested by the Israeli authorities for arbitrary reasons, like expressing their views on social media. They are being physically, emotionally and sexually abused as well as being humiliated and starved ⚠️ The situation for Palestinian children in Israeli prisons was extremely dire before the war but since the outset, it was gotten even worse 🚨 We are calling on the government of Israel to immediately end the detention of children in this abusive system. CHILDREN MUST ALWAYS BE PROTECTED.

  • For over 100 days now, fuel has been blocked from entering Gaza by the Israeli authorities. Without fuel, health services at hospitals and clinics can't operate, water trucking services can't continue, community kitchens can't provide food to Gaza’s starving population 💔 Preventing fuel from entering #Gaza puts the lives of thousands of children at risk. The siege must be lifted now⚠️

  • With much of Europe under extreme heat alerts, it’s important to know how to protect children during heatwaves ❤️ High temperatures aren’t just uncomfortable, they’re dangerous, especially for children. Babies, toddlers, and young children dehydrate faster, struggle to regulate their body temperature, and can’t always express when they’re overheating. That's why we’ve created a simple, practical guide to help parents, and caregivers protect children in extreme heat. 🌡️ From spotting early signs of heatstroke to tips for keeping babies cool at night, this guide can save lives. 🔄 Save and share!
