Updates

  • Every year, Saint-Gobain release the Sustainable Construction Barometer-an international survey that helps us to understand issues relating to sustainable construction. It takes the pulse of sustainable construction in the world: perceptions, barriers and progress levers, anticipated solutions, the most active stakeholders, and so on. The results can be used to help key stakeholders make decisions around the topic and help to transform the construction industry for the better, through educating and raising awareness of the most important issues, as well as helping us to measure progress and see what has changed in the sustainable construction landscape over time. • As part of our purpose to “Make the World a Better Home”, we believe everyone should have access to a safe, high-performing home that provides comfort, without compromising on quality, resident health, or efficiency. To help make this purpose a reality, Saint-Gobain’s Interior Solutions division recently collaborated with the Quality of Life Foundation to sponsor a roundtable bringing together 15 industry experts together. The aim of this was to discuss the critical question: How can new affordable homes actively improve residents’ health and wellbeing? One of the main outcomes was being able to design homes in such a way that put the resident at the heart, allowing for a holistic and healthy environment that balance affordability with the long term needs of residents, which is something that we at Saint-Gobain are very passionate about. We aim to provide solutions across our portfolio that do just this, enabling housing associations to build houses that last, without reducing the quality or performance levels that can lead to a poor quality of life for residents. Discussions like this are so important when it comes to changing behaviour in the industry, so we’d like to extend our thanks to the Quality of Life Foundation and those who took part in the roundtable.   You can read the full report from the roundtable below ⤵️ British Gypsum Isover UK

As the UK welcomes the announcement of significant funding for new affordable housing, a critical question remains: How can these new homes actively improve residents' health and wellbeing? Our just-released roundtable report - New affordable homes for health and wellbeing: What’s possible? - explores this important question. Generously sponsored by Saint-Gobain UK & Ireland, we gathered 15 experts for a frank yet optimistic discussion. One powerful message echoed throughout our discussions: "We need to start saying: ‘We're doing it because it's the right thing to do'." This report is a rallying cry for: - Transformative design and delivery: Moving beyond minimum standards to truly holistic, health-centred homes.  - Empowering residents: Centring lived experience at every stage of development.  - Corporate courage: Championing corporate courage and cross-sector collaboration to prevent repeating the mistakes of the past. This is our chance to redefine housing as a long-term health intervention. Read the full report to discover the insights, recommendations, and commitments shaping a healthier future for all: https://lnkd.in/db6Z3Gkr With thanks to all our participants: Andrea Lampard, Dr Elanor Warwick, Elly H., Sarah Maylor, Dave Lakin, Sarah Knight, Dinny Shaw, Caritas Charles, Liz Parsons, Rosalie Callway, Andrew Cameron-Smith, Matthew Morgan, Helen Hamilton, Alex Baines. • Did you know that every 1 tonne of clean cullet recovered from commercial buildings saves 1.2 tonnes of virgin raw materials being extracted for manufacturing? 💭 As part of our goal to be net-zero by 2030, we at Saint-Gobain UK & Ireland are working hard to make our manufacturing processes as circular as possible. Follow Richard Calcutt , Technical Project Manager at Saint-Gobain Glass UK and Ireland, for the day as he works on recovering end of life materials from commercial projects, to put them back into our manufacturing process, making a more circular economy. Hear why he not only loves his unique role in the business, but also the purpose behind it ⤵️📹

  • More and more of us are using TikTok as a way to showcase projects, share tips and best practise, and embracing a new way of communication. As the construction industry begins to embrace this new form of marketing and communication, we want to know if you're jumping aboard ⤵️
