Changes to accessing #beneficialownership information are among a number of amendments to the British Virgin Islands beneficial ownership regulations, effective as of 2 July 2025. All users of BVI entities need to be aware of these changes. The amended regulations include expanding the categories of persons to whom disclosure of the beneficial ownership information may be made, as well as an expanded list of the types of entities exempt from the general obligation to file beneficial ownership information with the BVI Registrar of Corporate Affairs (the Registrar). There are also certain helpful clarifications to the terms of the existing exemptions. This article from BVI partners Michael Killourhy, Simon Schilder and Marie-Claire Fudge give a breakdown of the key changes to the beneficial ownership regulations and what you need to do next. 👇Check the comments below for the link to the full article🔗

Meaningful allyship is unwavering. It is being open and curious, asking questions, listening to important conversations and helping to build policies that bring positive change. In honour of Pride month, Ogier's LGBTQ+ and Allies employee network hosted an internal panel discussion which: 🌈 highlighted the harm of microaggressions disguised as throwaway comments 🌈 celebrated the positive power of support from colleagues and visible inclusion in the workplace 🌈 and suggested some small actions everyone can take to become a meaningful ally Pride is more than a celebration. It is a call to stand up for equal rights, foster greater understanding and build spaces where everyone feels safe and respected for who they are. By supporting Pride and the LGBTQ+ community throughout the year, Ogier contributes to building a culture of acceptance and belonging, fostering a workplace and society where everyone can thrive and be their authentic selves. Thank you to our panel for sharing their stories. #LGBTQ #Pride #InclusionInTheWorkplace #DEI

Regulatory frameworks in the BVI are evolving to meet the complex demands of #Web3, tokenized securities and permissionless financial systems without sacrificing regulatory credibility. 🌊This was one of several key takeaways from discussions at BVI Finance event #FintechOnTheSeas, held at Sir Richard Branson's Necker Island and Oil Nut Bay at the end of June. Ogier was proud to be a key sponsor of the conference, which brought together a curated group of innovators, professional service providers, regulators, and thought leaders to engage in high-impact discussions on the future of digital finance, particularly within the BVI’s fast-evolving legal and regulatory landscape. Ogier partner Michael Killourhy, who is also transactional head in the BVI as well as the co-head of the firm's global Technology and Web3 practice, took part in two panel sessions during the conference (joined by partner Nicholas Brookes and counsel Stuart Fee). He explores the key themes and discussions from those sessions in this article. Did you attend? What did you take away from the event? 👇See the comments below for the link 🔗 #DigitalAssets

Last month, an awesome group of 10 Ogier Cayman colleagues stepped up for the Turtle Crawl 5k Walk / Run, supporting the amazing work of the Cayman Turtle Centre. Starting and finishing at the Cayman Turtle Centre in West Bay, our team joined the community in a family-friendly event dedicated to conserving Green sea turtles. The money raised will help save these iconic creatures - an enduring national symbol for the Cayman Islands - and to fund essential medical equipment and other vital resources to support the centre's conservation work. Well done to everyone who crawled for a cause - your contribution supports the ongoing efforts to protect endangered Green sea turtles in the Cayman Islands: Andrew Armstrong, Brooke Fitzgerald, Jade Parker, Jasjit Grewal, Kelley Verwey, Mark Santangeli, Melissa Comparin, CHRL, MHRM, Rachel Adams, Raedean Simpson and Sarafina McField. #CSR #Cayman #TurtleCrawl #RunForACause #TeamOgier
