In high-pressure moments, expertise isn’t optional. It’s everything. The years of intensive training vets and vet nurses go through to qualify equip them with the skills and confidence to turn split-second decisions into life-saving actions. When Rocco accidentally swallowed his favourite ball, his life hung in the balance. But the team at Mintlaw Vets in Aberdeenshire were able to spring into action—dislodging the object, administering oxygen, and saving his life in minutes. He went home the same day. The story has been picked up by online news outlets and social media, helping us to raise awareness about pet toy safety. 🎥 Video below—graphic content warning #BetterVetCare #VeterinaryMedicine

It’s not just the animals that walk through the clinic and hospital doors that our teams help. Thanks to an amazing collaborative effort across the veterinary and wildlife communities, 23 exotic wildcats have been successfully rehomed following a major welfare case at the Cat Survival Trust. The rescue was supported by expert input from IVC Evidensia’s welfare team, including veterinary testimony presented in court by Dave Martin, Group Director of Animal Welfare. The outcome: conviction of multiple animal welfare offences, the site’s closure, and a new start for the animals involved. “It’s incredibly rewarding to now see them thriving in properly managed environments,” said Dave. “We’re proud our welfare team could play a part in helping rehome these beautiful animals.” This case highlights the vital role of the veterinary profession in safeguarding animal welfare—across every species. #BetterVetCare #AnimalWelfare #VeterinaryMedicine

#Pride takes lots of different shapes around the world. What began in the fight for rights, visibility, and safety, has blossomed in many countries into a vibrant and colourful celebration of inclusion, solidarity, and the freedom to be yourself. But the global landscape for rights, protection and acceptance still varies hugely, making it more important than ever to recognise and amplify the emphatic statements of Pride we're seeing across the IVC Evidensia network. Check out the carousel with examples from our teams in Canada and Finland. From colourful scrubs and community events to Pride parades, they’ve set a great example of what inclusion in action looks like. 🏳️🌈

When faced with challenging situations, our teams have shown remarkable resilience and devotion to ensuring patient welfare and health comes first. Earlier this year, when a massive power outage swept through Spain in the middle of the working day, many of our clinics and hospitals were affected. The teams worked through it and continued to deliver the best care possible to patients: 🔦 A team supported a multiple birth with only a pulse oximeter and flashlights 🏥 Surgery continued in an improvised operating room lit by natural daylight 🐾 Eight abandoned kittens were rescued and fed in the midst of the chaos Across the country, IVC Evidensia España teams reorganised, adapted, and worked together to ensure every patient received the care they needed. Thank you to all our teams who show commitment and determination in the face of adversity. #VeterinaryMedicine #BetterVetCare

Tonks, a resilient little foal, has reminded us all why collaboration, compassion, and clinical expertise matter. Tonks was born at Oakham Veterinary Hospital in the UK, following an urgent referral from our colleagues at Bransby Horses - Rescue and Welfare. A challenging 'red bag' delivery—a complication where the placenta separates too soon—and a diagnosis of neonatal maladjustment syndrome meant she needed specialist care from the very first second. Thanks to the exceptional team at Oakham—supported by the wider IVC Evidensia clinical network—Tonks received 24/7 intensive treatment, including oxygen therapy, plasma transfusions, and assisted feeding. Tonks and her mum Miriam are now safely home and thriving. This is #BetterVetCare in action—showing that investing in the right people is investing in better outcomes for patients, clients, and communities.

Dr. Maxime Cambournac, emergency and critical care specialist at Centre Hospitalier Vétérinaire Frégis, has been awarded Best Poster at this year’s EVECC Congress, Europe’s leading event for veterinary emergency and critical care. The poster (pictured) showcases a groundbreaking surgical innovation; the use of a veno-venous liver bypass to support the removal of a massive liver tumour. Using a dialysis machine to reroute blood flow, Camille Bismuth and team, were able to isolate liver circulation during surgery, allowing them to operate with minimal blood loss and maintain the patient’s hemodynamic stability. To our knowledge, this is the first documented clinical use of this technique in veterinary medicine A huge congratulations to Maxime, Camille, and the team at Frégis. this is a fantastic reflection of the cutting-edge clinical expertise across our international network.

Animal welfare is central to our mission. Our dedicated Welfare team supports charities, regulatory bodies, and the wider veterinary profession, driving quality improvements in animal health and welfare standards. Stride, co-founded by IVC Evidensia, is an initiative to enhance dairy cow mobility and reduce lameness in the UK’s national herd. Stride educates stakeholders on best practices and collaborates with producers, vets, buyers, and the public to improve farm mobility. All of our veterinary teams, whether small animal, exotic, farm, or equine, are united in their commitment to provide outstanding care to our patients and outstanding service to their owners, in line with our purpose of Healthy Animals, Happy Owners. Watch the video to learn more about how we are driving an ever higher standard of care for our patients. #VeterinaryMedicine #BetterVetCare #AnimalWelfare

Specialist pet care in a country as sparsely populated as Sweden, with limited accredited specialists and long travel distances, can be a challenge. Many clinics and hospitals need additional support to manage cardiology cases effectively. So being part of a network like IVC Evidensia can be game-changing. Because we can invest in cutting edge, high-resolution imaging tools like Canon Aplio i700 with ApliCam and ApliGate, our vets can stream an examination live via Teams. The video stream shows both the screening and position of the vet’s hand on the scanner, so the remote expert can confidently advise and guide the examination. Using this tool, our cardiology specialist in Sweden Dr. Mark (J.M.) Dirven was able to help a colleague at another clinic 500km away. Telemedicine is shaping the future of veterinary medicine, ensuring, #BetterVetCare, no matter the distance: 🟢 Enhanced accessibility - clinicians at distant locations receive expert guidance without requiring pet owners to travel hours. 🟢 Better diagnostics & support - live-streaming provides specialists with a direct view of ultrasound images and probe positioning. 🟢 Efficient knowledge-sharing - practitioners gain confidence in handling cardiology cases, improving overall patient care. #VeterinaryMedicine #Telemedicine

We're closing out #VeterinaryNurseAwarenessMonth by showcasing some of our very own vet nurse voices. The job they do is essential to the smooth running of our clinics and hospitals, and the high-quality care we deliver. Thank you to all the vet nurses for your passion, resilience, and commitment every day when caring for the animals that come through our doors. #BetterVetCare #VeterinaryMedicine

At the start of #VeterinaryNurseAwarenessMonth, we shared our view that the Veterinary Surgeons Act 1966 needs to be updated to reflect and protect all of today’s veterinary practitioners, including the hardworking and expert vet nurses across our industry. We asked some of our very own IVC vet nurses to share their thoughts on protecting the title. Read what they have to say below 👇🏻 #VeterinaryMedicine #VeterinarySurgeonsAct #BetterVetCare
