A strong step forward in our Spanish expansion! easyHotel Barcelona La Sagrera opened its doors one week ago as our fourth hotel in Spain, and is already seeing high occupancy levels, with this past weekend reaching 96%. Located in the northeast of the city - and just 20 minutes to the city centre on the metro, the hotel offers 75 rooms designed for affordable, low-carbon stays in one of Europe’s most in-demand destinations. Barcelona La Sagrera follows the recent opening of easyHotel Madrid Alcalá, with easyHotel Valencia Ciutat Vella set to open later this year and easyHotel Alicante to follow in 2026 – building easyHotel's presence across major Spanish destinations. The hotel team – led by Adrian, formerly Assistant Hotel Manager of easyHotel Brussels City Centre – were on-hand to give an extra special welcome to the first guests: a couple visiting from the US on their first-ever trip to Europe. You get a headline-worthy campaign, and a media footprint to match. Alongside the campaign, we surveyed 2,000 people to find out what really matters when booking a hotel stay. The verdict? You don’t need loads of space, just a 4-star style mattress, central location all at a great price. Our Tallest in the Smallest campaign captured attention across national and regional media, print, online and social. Coverage included The Sun, Mirror, Yahoo Life and MSN. Miguel joined us earlier this year and played a key role in the successful opening event for the hotel. Originally from Portugal, he brings a passion for people, a love of sport, and over a decade of international hospitality experience across the UK and Iberia to the team. His background includes leadership roles at several Hilton properties and a proven track record in hotel openings, team development, and guest satisfaction. We’re proud to have Miguel leading our Madrid operations and bringing our newest hotel to life with energy, warmth, and a people-first mindset. His dedication to service and team development is already making a lasting impression.

The deal marks a milestone moment for our business coinciding with the release of our FY24 results, which show record system sales over €100 million, a 23% cut in carbon emissions across our owned and leased network, and two-thirds of our revenue now generated outside the UK. 🚨Employee Spotlight: Meet Marco Kusters 🌟 Marco joined easyHotel at the end of 2022, initially stepping in to lead maintenance. After a career running his own business managing 50 apartments and three hotels, he knew the ins and outs of hotel life. Following a few key conversations with the leadership team, he took on the role of interim manager. By early 2023, Marco had become the full-time Hotel Manager of our Maastricht property. Today, he oversees every aspect of the hotel - from front office and housekeeping to night shifts and maintenance. For Marco, keeping the hotel in top shape goes hand in hand with keeping the team motivated and happy. Because, as he says, happy staff = happy guests. We’re proud to have Marco leading our Maastricht operations and fostering a culture of teamwork, care, and consistency. His hands-on approach and passion for guest experience continue to shape the hotel’s success and team spirit.
