- Reviewed in the United States on January 7, 2020Wow!! So this book is meant for men.. and specifically black men I believe. but I am a woman and I bought this book for my little brother.. and before giving to him I decided to read some of it.. so I know what he's reading and we could talk about it.. well let me tell you first off... This is an easy to read book.. I know not alot of men arent into sittin down and reading a book. But this is like you're sitting in a room having a conversation with the Author.. It just flows. It's not forceful or telling someone what to do.. He's sharing his experience and his knowledge about things people don't always want to talk about ... and although it's for men I believe this book hits on topics and how to handle certain things that would help anyone who is struggling... Some women face issues and handle things like men.. or have a family member.. Child... Or significant other that may be struggling. This is a tool to help you or someone around you understand the struggle alot of men face.. I recommend this to anyone that's struggling with life in general. And even if you're not struggling.. it's a different perspective on daily struggles.... Whether you are black white male female.. It doesn't matter . It's a Great read..
- Reviewed in the United States on April 2, 2019You won’t be able to put this book down. It is written with compassion, insight, heart, and an authenticity that is rare. It provides a lot of food for thought in an accessible way, and walks the reader through the idea of transitioning from merely surviving to actually thriving, complete with tangible breakdowns of examples to both explain and model how different parts of the process may manifest themselves. This is a must read for all men struggling internally with silent pain, and a very important read for all women trying to understand men who may not themselves have the emotional intelligence to unpack the pain of their experiences. Pervis Taylor has written a marvelous book which will forever change your way of thinking!
- Reviewed in the United States on March 14, 2020There is so much I can say about this book. It is more like a manual and a roadmap for your life. It's a book you can go back to time and time again for useful and helpful advice to help you navigate through life. Most importantly it contains so many elements that contribute to health and mental healing. Kudos to the author for his transparency and most importantly his transformation. The book is recommended reading for all, but particularly for those who are dealing with trauma looking to be healed and set free. One of the best I'm ever made is having this book in my personal library.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 28, 2021This read is universally relevant even though it is written to a target audience in serious need of support, guidance, affirmation and education. It is an easy read filled with positive power points and applicable strategy to openly address a great need in one of our most disenfranchised communities. I hope this gets in the hands of all who need it and even to those like myself who aren't the target audience but who can use these universal principles as a launch pad for positive transformation.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 27, 2019This is an amazing book designed to help men in their personal journey from not simply surviving, but THRIVING! Pervis Taylor, III, has taken the struggles that every man goes through and helped us realize our challenges, while giving us the insight on how to navigate through them successfully. Thank you for the main focus points: Acknowledgment, Acceptance, Articulation, and Alchemy. Please include a workbook section to this awesome book!!!! As a male therapist, I use this during sessions with men to help them reach their maximum SURTHRIVAL point!!!
- Reviewed in the United States on May 21, 2019So many gems in the book. Heartfelt and direct! Definitely puts what is important in perspective and equips us with a framework to be the best version of ourselves.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 1, 2019This is an insightful book that tackles complex issues in a very conversational tone. The author has a way with words that is judgment-free at the same time shines light onto behaviors that may be hindered from reaching and living full potential. As a leader who works with women in male-dominated industries, I suggest this as a must-read for reaching a deeper level of emotional awareness and intelligence.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 7, 2019I bought two books for my sons as gifts, I will be purchasing 3 more so they all have their own copy.
It would be nice to have a book for young males... as young as 10 years old..
Something to consider...
