Manage channel insights sharing with third-party advertisers, brands, and platforms

Channel insights sharing setting gives eligible YouTube Partner Program (YPP) creators an easier way to share aggregated channel insights in YouTube Studio to help third-party advertisers, brands, and platforms determine if a creators’ channel is a good fit for their audience. This can lead to increased earning opportunities from ads, brand deals, and shopping affiliate programs.

These aggregated insights will include channel statistics, audience breakdown, and YouTube Shopping affiliate program performance insights (if you are in the YouTube Shopping affiliate program). This setting is off by default, and creators have full control to turn it on or off at any time. To start, creators will need to confirm their choice to turn on the channel insights sharing setting in YouTube Studio.

  • More opportunities to earn: Sharing channel insights helps third-party advertisers, brands, and platforms discover creators, potentially leading to more earning opportunities like higher revenue ads, brand deals, and shopping affiliate offers.
  • Comprehensive insights: Provides holistic channel metrics across various platforms used by third-party advertisers, brands, and platforms to manage campaigns and engage with creators.
  • Easy, streamlined sharing: To begin sharing your channel insights, simply navigate to your channel's “Advanced settings” in YouTube Studio and opt-in.

Eligibility

The channel insights sharing setting is available to YPP creators globally in YouTube Studio on desktop, with the exception of Official Artist Channels (“OACs”).

Turn on channel insights sharing

You can share your channel insights by turning on the setting in YouTube Studio. If at any point you want to stop sharing your channel insights, you can turn the setting off. If you turn the setting off, you may still be discoverable due to your public data (e.g., channel name, subscriber count, views) being visible to third-party advertisers, brands, and platforms.

  1. Sign in to YouTube Studio on Desktop.
  2. On the bottom left, click Settings .
  3. On the left, click Channel and then Advanced settings.
  4. Under “Channel insights sharing,” check the box for Allow advertisers, brands, and third-party platforms to view channel insights for earning opportunities.
  • Note: To turn off, uncheck the box.
  1. Click Save.
Note: If a creator previously signed the BrandConnect Terms of Service or completed a 3rd-party authentication in YouTube Analytics, insights will continue to be shared under those terms even if channel insights sharing is turned off. Learn how to opt-out of Brand Connect Terms of Service.

As a creator, where can I view the data that is being shared with third-party advertisers, brands, and platforms?

The data being shared with third-party advertisers, brands, and platforms are accessible to creators via YouTube Analytics within YouTube Studio, individually tagged videos, channel homepage, or directly provided by the creator. Please refer to the table above for the exact location of the metrics shared.

Is channel insights sharing different from creator-initiated video linking?

Yes, channel insights sharing focuses on helping third-party advertisers, brands, and platforms discover and partner with creators by sharing channel statistics, audience breakdown, and shopping performance (part of the YouTube Shopping affiliate program).

Creator-initiated linking, on the other hand, is designed for creators uploading branded content and shares video-specific performance with their brand partners. Learn more about creator-initiated video linking.

Should I opt-in to channel insights sharing even if I have already given my consent through Brand Connect?

Yes, you may increase earning opportunities from ads, brand deals, and shopping affiliate programs by sharing your channel statistics, audience breakdown, and shopping performance insights with third-party advertisers, brands, and platforms through channel insights sharing. To start, turn on the channel insights sharing setting in YouTube Studio.

Does channel insights sharing replace the BrandConnect and Shopping Terms of Service I have previously signed?

No, the channel insights sharing setting only pertains to sharing channel statistics, audience breakdown, and shopping performance, and will not replace the BrandConnect or Shopping Terms of Service.
