Currently Europol is looking for Senior Agent – Screening and Access Management. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the effective handling and processing of personnel security documentation, clearance certification, and physical access management within Europol. She/he will provide advice, operational support, and coordinate with both internal stakeholders and external security authorities to maintain high-security standards. By coordinating and implementing risk management, access control systems, and compliance with the applicable security policies, this position plays a critical role in safeguarding Europol’s expanding infrastructure and operations.


The successful candidate will be entrusted with the following functions and duties:


  • Maintaining and updating internal databases with security clearance statuses, ensuring data integrity and confidentiality;
  • Administering and troubleshooting relevant databases in the area of competence (such as Building Integration System (BIS) and Identity and Access Management (IAM) database, ensuring data accuracy and compliance;
  • Liaising with National Security Authorities (NSAs) and external partners in Personnel Security and Industrial Security matters;
  • Ensuring that personnel and industrial security standards, as per established rules and regulations are observed and complied with;
  • Implementing all processes pertaining to the provision and maintenance of security clearances;
  • Identifying deficiencies and recommending corrective actions to enhance Personnel and Industrial security;
  • Maintaining security awareness in the area of competence, and report suspicious activities;
  • Proposing appropriate strategies to mitigate any identified risks in the area of competence, suggesting countermeasures;
  • Providing advice and prepare reports to management on all matters related to personnel security, clearance certification and physical access Management, ensuring alignment with organizational security policies;
  • Drafting, reviewing, and maintaining internal policy documents, standard operating procedures pertaining to personnel and industrial security;
  • Providing awareness sessions/ training to internal and external stakeholders in the fields of personnel and industrial security;


Key requirements and knowledge:


  • A level of education as described in the vacancy notice published on Europol’s website;
  • At least 2 years of relevant professional work experience in personnel security, clearance certification, and physical access management;
  • Experience preparing written security reports, briefings, procedural documentation, and other written materials.
  • Experience with security screening or vetting procedures obtained in law enforcement, armed forces, government agency, or international organization;
  • Knowledge of technical security systems and measures relevant to access control and personnel security;
  • Knowledge of personal security clearance certification procedures, industrial security regulations, and best practices in access control;
  • Ability to provide advice and operational support on personnel and industrial security matters;
  • Knowledge of relevant EU security regulations;
  • Certification in security screening and/or risk management;


Indicative salary:

The basic monthly salary is grade 13 (EUR 4,319.72), grade 14 (EUR 4,887.55) or grade 16 (EUR 6,256.88).


The indicative salary for a staff member (single) in receipt of expatriation allowance (16%) is:


a) Staff member (single) in receipt of expatriation allowance (16%): FGIV: grade 13: EUR 4,607.35, grade 14: EUR 5,182.01, grade 16: EUR 6,503.94

b) Staff member with two dependent children in their custody in receipt of expatriation allowance (16%): FGIV: grade 13: EUR 6,536.84, grade 14: EUR 7,139.91, grade 16: EUR 8,563.38.
