The fourth industrial revolution, based on data and algorithms, seems dominated by the American and Chinese tech giants. What about Europe? Shall we finally realized that we also have exceptional strengths to be put to good use?
    Carlo Purassanta, former president of Microsoft France, demonstrates that this isn't a utopia. If he ardently defends an ambitious industrial renewal, it is because he has glimpsed its beginnings. The reservoirs of disruptive creativity, singular talents and entrepreneurial daring exist in Europe. We must release and aggregate new energies, deepen our digital culture and show more conviction and courage so that we can better master responsible growth.
    Digital innovation is already at the heart of our environment. The idea for us is not to be under its sway, but on the contrary to choose a digital that serves the community and business.     Exactly one year ago, together with Fondazione Cariplo and a number of key Partners, we announced in Milan a project called "growITup" http://growitup.it/, aimed at fostering Digital Innovation in our Country. It has been an incredible new adventure since, with twelve months of hard work to grow this new capability, listen, learn, identify opportunities, create a network of innovators, use creative thinking, spread a positive attitude of #growthmindset, convince around us that it is possible to transform the Italian economy through a qualified contamination with the entrepreneurs of the new digital economy. Since the beginning of this project we had the ambition of providing not only Digital Innovation opportunities to the best Italian Corporations, but also new great opportunities for growth for Italian Startups. We knew that in order to do that we should contribute to solve the "financial side of the equation". The Italian VC market is relatively small if we look at the other side of the Alps, with a 1/10 ratio if we compare with France and Germany - not to talk about the USA and the UK that have outstanding capital markets capabilities. We said one year ago that in Italy we should target a 1B/year VC capability by 2020 for the overall market. I am very proud to say that today we announce in Milan, with Fondazione Cariplo and with a fantastic set of Investors, the phase2 of growITup, with the launch of a Fund with code name "crescIT@" dedicated to this initiative, and with the objective of raising 100M in the coming months. This will create additional traction to our work, We will stay focused on creating growth opportunities for Italian Companies and Startups, leveraging a real, effective, structured approach of #opencollaboration.
