  • Recommendation Engine A/B experiment setup

    I setup the A/B experiment for our Recommendation results. This helped us to iteratively improve our recommendations by using real time input from users. This involved complex coding in Ruby on Rails, jQuery and HTML. I worked with Memcached based caching for extremely fast website performance.

  • Right click tracking framework using backend based link redirection

    -

    Right now it is possible to track left clicks using Google Analytics. However tracking right clicks is not possible to track with Google Analytics. I developed a new system to track the right clicks using backend based link redirection. This is method is quite similar to the tracking method used by the main Google Search (www.google.com).

  • Search Analytics

    -

    I worked on creating Search Engine analytics using Hadoop and Pig scripts. It was based on the Load Balancer page visits logs. This is very similar to what Google Analytics does. I used Pig, Hadoop and Python in this project. The results were displayed on a Metrics dashboard developed by LinkedIn.

  • Removal of Duplicate Documents

    -

    Rewrote the REST API Java server which found duplicate documents from a list of documents and removed them. Technologies used were Ruby, Java and Java EE. I also wrote the Ruby code to query the REST API and process the API results.

  • Recommendation Engine

    This server found out the recommendations for documents uploaded by users. Technologies used were Apache Solr, Ruby, RabbitMQ and Amazon AWS SQS queues.

  • Search Engine (Apache Solr) indexing and querying

    -

    Worked on document indexing and querying using Apache Solr. I have extensive experience with Apache Solr indexing and querying. I have worked extensively on the server side setup and maintenance of the search servers. Our response time is extremely fast and our search service was scalable.

  • Blocking of search cluster DoS attackers by doing load balancer traffic log analysis using Pig and Hadoop

    -

    I blocked "Denial of Service(DoS)" attackers on our search cluster. I analyzed the load balancer traffic logs to find out which IP addresses were sending maximum traffic in a day. This analysis was done using Pig and Hadoop. Then these IP addresses were blocked which resulted in the traffic coming back to normal.
