🆕 New feature on Whympr: the Map Patou layer 🐾 The arrival of summer also means the arrival of the herds on the mountain pastures - and with them, the guard dogs, also known as patous, responsible for watching over the ewes or goats. At Whympr, our mission is to create the most appropriate tools to facilitate the practice of mountain sports, in a safe and respectful environment for all those involved. This also means taking into account agricultural, wildlife and human issues. 👉 With this in mind, we have launched a new layer on the application, enabling users to view grazing areas marked with the presence of guard dogs. 🎯 The aim is to help everyone plan their outings with full knowledge of the facts, and avoid misunderstandings that can lead to incidents. Map Patou is a comprehensive interactive map listing all the mountain pastures and estives where guard dogs watch over the herds. It covers 9 departments in the Alps: Ain, Cantal, Drôme, Isère, Loire, Haute-Loire, Puy-de-Dôme, Savoie and Haute-Savoie. The map is supported by Pasto Kézako, a group of six departmental teams, known as Services Pastoraux, which are members of the Réseau Pastoral Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes. Since 2023, these teams have been joining forces to raise as many people as possible's awareness of the need to live together with guard dogs. Thank you to the farmers and local authorities who are helping to identify these areas.
