The European Medicines Agency has just released a new guideline on inclusion of pregnant and breastfeeding individuals in clinical trials, a cruicial step forward in addressing a highly relevant yet complex issue. Underrepresentation of these populations leads to a lack of specific safety and efficacy data. Consequently, healthcare providers must often make treatment decisions without adequate information, posing risks to both patients and infants. The guideline sets out the scientific, regulatory, and ethical foundations for involving pregnant and breastfeeding individuals in clinical trials, and is open for public consultation until 15 September 2025.

Aboard a ship plagued by scurvy, he divided 12 sick sailors into 6 groups to test different treatments. 🔍 Transparence des essais cliniques : il est temps que la France prenne ses responsabilités. Un nouveau rapport d’un groupe de travail gouvernemental met en lumière une réalité qu’on ne peut plus ignorer : moins de 40 % des essais cliniques en France publient leurs résultats dans l’année suivant leur clôture. Pour les essais financés par des fonds publics, ce chiffre tombe à 15 %. Ce n’est pas juste une statistique — c’est un signal d’alerte. Quand les résultats restent cachés, on fausse la science, on gaspille des fonds publics, et on prend des décisions sans avoir tous les éléments. Le plus grave ? On trahit la confiance des patients qui se sont portés volontaires. 📌 Le rapport appelle à l’action : ➡️ Rendre obligatoire la publication des résultats de tous les essais — pas seulement les essais médicamenteux. ➡️ Former les chercheurs dès le lancement du projet. ➡️ Intégrer la transparence dans les règles de financement. ➡️ Développer des outils qui simplifient la mise en ligne des résultats. ➡️ Mobiliser universités, hôpitaux, agences et institutions européennes. 📊 L’objectif : 100 % des essais doivent publier leurs résultats dans les 12 mois. Pas d’exception. La transparence n’est pas une formalité — c’est un engagement pour une science plus rigoureuse, des soins plus justes, et une confiance retrouvée.
