N26 has a dedicated Trust and Safety team that specializes in monitoring the latest threats in the online space, to help customers stay a step ahead of security threats and malicious schemes online. Their latest research shows that impersonation scams are among the fastest-growing online security threats in Europe. These scams often start with a message or call from someone pretending to be your bank, the police, or a delivery service. The goal? To create urgency and trick you into sharing personal information. 📲 SMS remains the top method used by fraudsters, but scam calls are increasingly on the rise — now even surpassing SMS in some markets. Young adults (25-39) are targeted most often, and men are more frequently affected, especially in older age groups. 🔒 Stay safe with these simple tips: ▪️ Your bank will never call you out of the blue for something urgent. ▪️ Never click on suspicious links or share personal info outside your banking app. ▪️ Be wary of urgent or alarming messages — they’re designed to pressure you. 🤝 𝐍26 𝐢𝐬 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐝 𝐭𝐨 𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐣𝐨𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐄𝐮𝐫𝐨𝐩𝐨𝐥 𝐅𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐏𝐮𝐛𝐥𝐢𝐜-𝐏𝐫𝐢𝐯𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐏𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩! Collaboration plays a crucial role in preventing and detecting financial crime. The sharing of complementary information between Financial Institutions, Financial Intelligence Units, and Law Enforcement Agencies allows for a better understanding and management of financial crime threats, so that we can safeguard the society more effectively. This implies day-to-day collaboration as well as long-term partnerships such as EFIPPP. EFIPPP is the first transnational information sharing mechanism ever established in the field of Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorist Financing. It was created in 2017, and provides an environment for cross-border cooperation and information exchange between Europol, competent authorities (including Financial Intelligence Units and Law Enforcement Agencies) and regulated financial service entities such as banks. This Membership will allow N26 to gather insight about emerging threats, typologies, and cross-border risks — helping us detect financial crime more effectively. Reciprocally, it will give us the opportunity to contribute to ongoing and future EFIPPP initiatives and work more closely with our peers and European investigative authorities to make Europe a safer place. 💸 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗵𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗲𝗻𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲𝘀 𝘄𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝗽𝗿𝗶𝗰𝗲𝘀 𝗿𝗶𝘀𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘆𝗲𝗮𝗿𝘀 – 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗵𝗼𝘄 𝗱𝗼 𝗱𝗶𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗽𝗲𝗼𝗽𝗹𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗽𝗼𝗻𝗱? Together with the ifo Institute – Leibniz Institute for Economic Research and the TUM School of Management, we took a closer look at how German consumers have managed their money during the recent cost-of-living crisis. The result is one of the most detailed data-driven insights into spending, income, and financial resilience from 2021 to 2024. The findings show that nearly all consumer groups experienced significant financial pressure, especially until 2023. However, the impact of inflation varied significantly across different groups: 👩 Women tended to navigate the situation better than men, despite lower incomes. 💵 Young adults saw the highest salary growth but also the largest spending increase. 🏢 Urban consumers experienced an earlier stabilization of their finances than the population in rural areas. Since 2024, we’ve been seeing signs of recovery across all groups – but long-term effects remain, particularly for those with lower incomes. The study offers a rare window into how real people navigated economic uncertainty and what we can learn from their behavior.
