+++ #NEWS +++ The U.S. FDA has approved a new therapy for adult patients living with a common type of heart failure. Around 60 million people worldwide are living with heart failure (HF), and it is a rapidly growing public health issue. Half of these patients have HF with a left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) of ≥40%, also known as mildly reduced or preserved ejection fraction. Heart Failure is a key focus area for us, and #TeamBayer remains committed to advancing new treatment approaches for cardiovascular and kidney diseases with high unmet medical needs. 🌱 At Bayer, we believe in the power of collaboration and resilience. This year, we are proudly participating in the 4th Ukraine Recovery Conference (URC) held in Rome, where global leaders gathered to discuss the path forward for Ukraine amidst the ongoing challenges.🌍 During a side event organized by #TeamBayer and our partners, German Agribusiness Alliance, AHK Ukraine - German-Ukrainian Chamber of Industry and Commerce, Ost-Ausschuss der Deutschen Wirtschaft e.V., and Agentur für Wirtschaft und Entwicklung, we engaged in meaningful discussions on the geopolitical and economic impacts of the war on the agricultural sector. A visit from German Chancellor, Friedrich Merz, to the Bayer booth was a recognition of our efforts that motivates us to continue this impactful work to support Ukraine’s recovery. Additionally, our initiative aimed at demining agricultural land in Ukraine in partnership with the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation, Bundesministerium für wirtschaftliche Zusammenarbeit und Entwicklung (BMZ), the German development bank DEG, and the Swiss NGO FSD (Fondation suisse de déminage), is making significant progress to raise awareness about the dangers of mines and unexploded ordnance. In the past year, FSD has reached 2,446 individuals through safety briefings and performed land safety assessments, while Bayer has distributed 30,000 educational pamphlets to Ukrainian households, with a successful social media campaign to amplify these important messages. Our presence at the URC is not just about dialogue; it’s about action. Over the years of conflict, Bayer has invested 33 million euros in humanitarian aid and is currently implementing a 60 million euros investment to expand our seed plant in Ukraine. ✉️Stamped in time – a small piece and a remarkable journey For 125 years, #Team Bayer in Italy has been all in for our customers, farmers, and patients. To celebrate this important milestone, Bayer Italy unveiled something both symbolic and lasting: a special postage stamp, issued by the @Ministry of Enterprise and Made in Italy. Designed in Italy’s national colors, the stamp reflects our three divisions: Crop Science, Consumer Health, and Pharmaceuticals. Today, our Milan headquarters opened its doors to celebrate this occasion with a special event. With engaging panel discussions on health and agriculture, the day brought together leaders from politics, media, science, and industry to explore the latest advancements in life sciences, new therapeutic frontiers, and innovative perspectives for European agriculture. The discussions, featuring a speech by special guest Stefan Oelrich, President of Bayer Pharmaceuticals and Member of the Board of Management, provided valuable insights into the future, focusing on what Europe and Italy must do to maintain their competitiveness in life sciences innovation. A highlight: The official ceremonial stamping of the Bayer stamp by Poste Italiane – a fitting way to seal 125 years of impact. In the new VOICES episode, I spoke with Bill Anderson, the CEO of Bayer of how organizations need to develop from episodic to perpetual adaptation and about Bayer’s paths to innovation and agility. Today’s global environment needs agile organization and artificial intelligence technology. Change is not a project anymore, it’s permanent and essential in rapidly changing environments. I met a leader with a bold vision and a bold company claim with the goal to transform the company thus navigation of change is more sustainable. Bill Anderson is supporting a learning mindset at Bayer. It’s a wonderful and exciting discussion how Bayer is managing to deliver on this powerful promise “Health for all - hunger for none”, even in these turbulent times of transformation and reorganization, also within the company.   Two years ago, in June 2023, Bill Anderson took over as CEO. He became CEO of Bayer in very challenging times, not only in the midst of major geopolitical and economic challenges, but also during a major corporate crisis triggered by the purchase of the US seed company Monsanto.   What has been achieved in the past two years, since he took up the position by reducing hierarchies, eliminating bureaucracy, streaming structures and accelerate decision-making processes. Where does Bayer stand today, two years later, and in these uncertain geo- and economic times?   At a turning point in global economic and security policy, Bayer is pushing ahead with a reorganization under Dynamic Shared Ownership (DSO) to reduce hierarchies and bureaucracy.
