Hello experts,

When refreshing data in Power BI, does the page type degrade any performance when pulling data? We have add some performance issues with reports not being able to refresh on the ship-to address page and it is a page type of Card. Should we customize an API to get the data another way?

An API offers a more efficient and controlled route.

I suggest you to customize new APIs, it looks like you are publishing existing pages to Web Service, which will not be available in two years. And APIs will have better performance.

Hello,

You are correct, the page type in Business Central can impact performance when consuming data from Power BI, probably when you use OData web services for example.

I would recommend creating a custom API, exposing the necessary fields of the shipping address.

In Power BI, the type of visual (like a Card) doesn’t directly impact data refresh performance, but issues can arise from complex DAX measures, high-cardinality data, inefficient data models, or slow data sources.

If your "Ship-to Address" page is slow to refresh, it’s likely due to how the data is queried or filtered rather than the Card visual itself. Before building a custom API, consider optimizing your data model, simplifying DAX, or using Performance Analyzer to pinpoint bottlenecks.

A custom API may help if you need faster, pre-filtered data, but it adds complexity and should be a last resort.
