Does Airtable 'batch_upsert' update records if the data is identical?

Hello!I have a question regarding the batch_upsert method in the pyairtable library.Does batch_upsert update records even if the incoming data is identical to what's already stored in Airtable? Specifically, will the “Last Modified Time” column be updated in such cases?Example usage (python):table.batch_upsert(records=batch, key_fields=key_fields, typecast=True) From my testing, it seems like some records are not showing an updated timestamp, even though they were included in the batch. I'd like to confirm if this is expected behavior.Thanks in advance!

How to Track Changes to Form View Fields via Airtable API?

Hello Airtable Community,I’m working on an integration where we need to detect if someone updates any field in a Form View (e.g., adds/removes/hides fields). I’ve explored the Airtable Metadata API, specifically the endpoint: bashCopyEditGET https://api.airtable.com/v0/meta/bases/{baseId}/views While this API returns the list of views, including forms, it doesn’t seem to provide: A timestamp or audit log of when a form was last modified Information on which specific fields were updated or reordered Any versioning or update tracking for forms Questions: Is there any way (via API or otherwise) to determine if a Form View’s field configuration has been changed (e.g., which fields are visible/required/ordered)? Can we track when a particular Form View was last updated? Is there a webhook or event system available for view updates? Any guidance or workarounds would be greatly appreciated.

Direct file upload from Blocks SDK?

I’m trying to make an extension that generates a file using base data and then re-uploads that file back to Airtable. However, I’m not able to find any way to access the upload attachment HTTP endpoint from within the Blocks SDK. The API reference only shows examples of “uploading” attachments using public URLs.Is there any way to access this functionality (properly) from within a blocks extension? Or alternatively some sort of internal PAT or similar I can use to make the POST request without hardcoding something that will be exposed in the browser?

Could we get Airtable Omni via Automations or the API?

When working with building automation systems outside of Airtable, a lot of use cases involve taking actions on Airtable data. These are currently done via custom Airtable API calls and actions that require a lot of configuration. They’re difficult to set up, maintain, get right, and scale.It would be a huge advancement if, instead of hooking up all those API calls and configurations ourselves, we could just provide our base and table and provide our request to Airtable Omni via the API and let it do the agentic work on our data.For example, the automation might look something like:ClickUp trigger > Airtable > Airtable Query: “Look through user feedback data in table X in base Y and provide a summary report of the 3 most important areas of improvement according to Z criteria” > Upload the PDF and upload to Microsoft OneDrive.”The parts in bold is where it would be very helpful to simply provide that as a query to Airtable’s AI/Omni via API.If not via the API, is it possible to

Can we have a function to convert record object into serializable format as per the Get Record api?

I’m creating an extension here. Often times I want to send record from extension to my backend api. My backend already supports the json serialized format returned by get records api. It would be very helpful if there is a method to convert record object in blocks sdk to that format. Or is there already a way for that?Thanks

Upload attachment to Airtable field

Hi all,I am struggling to find a solution to this, and I wonder if it’s an easy problem. I want to upload an attachment to an Airtable base for a specific record/field; I am following the instructions reported here: Upload attachment - Airtable Web APIHowever,m I keep getting error 403. I can create and update records, but the image upload is not working. Any ideas?

How can I use var(--colors-foreground-default) in my CSS?

I’m struggling with styling in my extension.  I can see in the browser Airtable defines over a hundred theme constants useful for styling elements.  I want to import these into my own style.css so I can refer to them, but I can’t find a way to do so.I have found useColorScheme() and other ways to access theme constants within typescript, but I don’t want to style everything programmatically.  If I want to style in CSS, am I obliged to maintain my own list of constants?

Slow down Airtable (developers)!

I don’t want to be overly negative as I love Airtable, as do my clients. But can Airtable slow down in integrating new features without proper testing. In the past couple of weeks since developers integrated Interface/data layout into one in the home view, there have been so many bugs in the system. I am all for new integrating and love the direction the company is going. However, don’t be premature about it. Every time I am using Airtable now there are new bugs and I don’t have time to send Airtable developers feedback and examples... It’s hard to keep up (more a clients perspective) with new features, new layouts and new bugs. To the developers, just make sure your ready before publishing new layouts and features please 🙏

API for searching in multiple basesHi community, My company developed an API to search multiple databases, we used Airtable for a talent pipeline for the company's recruiting team, and we found ourselves with the limit of 50,000 records (teams plan).Instead of upgrading the plan, we developed this solution. We divide our base by years and create several bases. And with this new program, we can search through all the databases quickly and effectively.I share screenshot In the API, you can search multiple fields (in the example, we search through name and Linkedin link), and then, it shows in which base the API found the specific record (Of course, you can choose which fields you want to display.)What do you think if we commercialize the API? Request Error With returnFieldsByFieldId in POST Request For List Records Endpoint

Hi, I’m new on using this product and we are trying to integrate this into our system. I managed to setup the api and make some requests however, during my testing in the list records api with `POST` method. I was trying to use this parameter `returnFieldsByFieldId` in the request body but got an error stating this..```{ "error": {      "type": "INVALID_REQUEST_UNKNOWN",      "message": "Invalid request: parameter validation failed. Check your request data."  }}```Mentioned parameter works with `GET` request. Tried a bunch of boolean equivalent for this parameter like-  1-  true-  True-  TRUEHoping someone can help. TIA.

Any way to embed the Map extension on external-facing website?

We have created a Provider Directory on our website, and we got feedback requesting a map to accompany the list. We have created a "Sandbox base" where we're trying out the AirTable Map extension, but I'm wondering if there's a way to display the map *next to* the table on our website (or above or below but specifically *with* the table).I see that it doesn't embed, but is there a way for a developer to do it if we hired someone? Any other suggestions if not?(I already tried the other map extension called MapChart and confirmed theirs won't display externally at all.)Thanks!Erin

Airtable Pagination

I'm using the Airtable Node SDK and the type for `offset` is `number` but it throws an error of "INVALID_OFFSET_VALUE". Passing a `string` also throws an error "Error: Airtable: invalid parameters for `select`".Also, I don't get the `offset` string from the response when using the SDK.Is it possible to do pagination with the SDK? I see there's a function for `.select().eachPage()` but I'm not sure how to use it to implement pagination.If requesting via Fetch, I get the `offset` string from the response and I'm able to send it to the next request and get the next page, but how do I navigate backwards? I would need to store in a hash map ( { 0: null, 1: 'first_page/offset_string', ... } ) ?Another question is: Is it possible to implement a "normal" pagination? Like, navigate to an specific page, navigate backwards, etc.?

Airtable Changelog via Custom Scrapping method

Can anyone tell me if there’s a way to perform web scrapping on Airtable and fetch changes related to the tickets? For example, I change the status of my ticket to In-Progress from To-Do, I need a custom scraper method that would parse the data and store it into my database. I am using Node.js and puppeteer.

Getting 429 errors when accessing Airtable inside Make (Integromat) scenarios via API

We encountered a number of systematic errors when accessing our Airtable databases inside Make (former Integromat) scenarios via APIWhen accessing an Airtable module in a Make scenario , Airtable consistently throws one of two errors:1) Error 4292) The operation timed outBecause of this, all our Make scenarios automatically stop and we experience great difficulties. 422 Server Error when testing POST from Voiceflow using API

I'm using a simple JSON to POST data to create a new record in Airtable.I'm using Field IDs to prevent name changes from affecting the integration. Capturing photos IN a form

I'm wondering if forms can also have the "take photo" function in attachments the same as when adding records from a phone or device? The idea is to have customer feedback be able to take a photo in the feedback form without going through their gallery.

How can I transform ‘List’ or ‘Record’ field types from Airtable into readable values in Power BI, especially for selects, linked records, and collaborator fields?

Some field types including single selects, multiple selects, linked records, and collaborator fields will show “List” or “Record” instead of the values you may be used to seeing in the Airtable grid view. This is consistent with how the Airtable Web API returns information.

How to Prevent Webhook Retries

Hi there,I am using webhooks to send data from our base to our application endpoint, but we've observed that if our endpoint fails to respond correctly, the webhook is retried many times.While we work on making our endpoint more resilient, the volume of retries can cause issues.Is there any setting, configuration, or recommended best practice from your end that we can use as a workaround to prevent or immediately stop a webhook from retrying upon the first failure?Our goal is to have more direct control over the retry behavior to avoid overloading our systems during an incident.Thank you for your guidance.

What does User role: Enterprise admin refer to?

Batch_Upsert vs. Batch_Update performance

Heya everyone!So I noticed that on the Airtable update API endpoint they note about upserts:Airtable reserves the right to throttle upsert requests differently from the standard rate limit throttling policy.Intuitively, I’d assume that differently means that they’re more strict about it as they’d be doing comparisons on their end.Does anyone know whether upsert is throttled more aggressively than plain updates? I’d assume so but I thought I’d get it cleared up.Thanks!
