About us
This iconic Australian brand has stayed true to its original vision: sophisticated femininity, a passion for detail and a love of colour and print. Sisters Nicky and Simone ZIMMERMANN founded their namesake brand in Sydney in 1991. Early in its evolution, ZIMMERMANN took the bold step of fusing fashion with swimwear and presented it to the world. It immediately found its following with the fashion elite, creating a new point of reference in flattering, feminine and stylish swimwear. While the swimsuit thrust ZIMMERMANN on to the international stage, it has been its optimistic, feminine and consistently desirable collections across its ready-to-wear and resort that have propelled it to greater global appeal. While based at home in Sydney, ZIMMERMANN present their ready-to-wear collections each season at New York Fashion Week. They maintain showrooms in Sydney, London, Paris, New York and Los Angeles. Working with the highly acclaimed designer and long-time collaborator, Don McQualter, ZIMMERMANN maintains a number of stand-alone stores across Australia, Europe and the USA including flagship stores on Madison Ave in New York and Melrose Place in Los Angeles.

“Fall 25 draws inspiration from the Australian classic film Picnic at Hanging Rock which celebrates its 50th anniversary this year. This collection brings a modern spirit to its haunting mystery and ethereal beauty. Through texture, silhouette and artful details, we’ve created pieces that evoke the feeling of a dream within a dream. Rather than create a homage to the film’s costumes, we’ve taken some of the key storytelling elements, such as lace, dramatic silhouettes, the colours of Australian nature, Valentine’s letters, maps of Mt Macedon, the pinafores of school uniforms and some tougher elements like riding wear and suiting.” - Nicky Zimmermann, Creative Director.

Crush: Introducing the campaign for our Resort 2025 Ready-to-Wear collection, featuring @k_lindseth. Explore and shop new arrivals in stores and online now. “I was thinking about the influence that 80’s coming-of-age movies and actors of the era had on my friends and I back when I was at design school in Sydney. Movies like St Elmo’s Fire, The Breakfast Club and Pretty In Pink. So many of our style cues were taken from Winona Ryder, Lisa Bonet or Molly Ringwald. We would rummage through vintage stores and create looks that mixed and matched the old with the new, menswear and womenswear - that was our entertainment on the weekends before we went out. For this Resort season we embraced the style and feel-good mood of these movies and tried to bring it together in a fresh, fun and modern way. We worked with soft focus floral prints, leopard print on silk linen organza for prom-like dresses, engineered lace prints - as well as lace as a key texture itself in both key looks and shoes. There’s lots of little icons inspired by the films that run through our details - diary extracts, cassette tapes, records and lipstick that come through in key artwork and in charms. Our denim brings more masculine influences in biker and collegiate jackets and oversized jeans. Tailoring has nods to exaggerated shoulders with twist details. I loved those movies - I still love them. They were fun and so was the style for me.” - Creative Director, Nicky Zimmermann.
