In his Mid-Year Outlook, Ric Deverell, Macquarie's Chief Economist and Head of Net Zero, talks about the impact of US trade tariffs and policy uncertainty on markets and the global economy. Last week Macquarie Capital Equities welcomed over 190 investors from the UK, the US and Europe for our annual "Asia Unbound - Road to Recovery" conference in our London office. Joined by several leading Asian corporates, the conference centred around the current global geopolitical and economic outlook, and how periods of disruption and change are influencing the investment landscape. Attendees joined educational macro panel sessions where they heard from Macquarie's Head of China Economics Weijun (Larry) Hu, and Head of Global Desk Strategy Viktor Shvets, where they discussed China's economic and policy outlook in 2025 and reflected on how a dynamic market is prompting investors to think differently about their strategies. Core plus infrastructure has seen significant evolution and growth in recent years – in the US and globally. The opportunity comprises businesses with distinct and resilient infrastructure-like characteristics, but with added elements that increase complexity and growth potential. Last month, Macquarie Capital brought 35 infrastructure funds together at our New York City office for the 2025 Core+ Crossover Summit, to connect with clients from across Macquarie Capital’s industry coverage groups. Attendees had the opportunity to hear from and connect with CEOs representing key participants in the sector, including Franklin Energy, Gopher Resource, JET Infrastructure, Modular Devices, Space Prep, Stella Environmental Services LLC, USG Water Solutions, Valtir & Vigor, LLC. As private equity and infrastructure investors continue to explore opportunities in this sector, opportunities to connect are crucial in driving innovation and transaction activity.
