WHO/UNICEF estimates of national immunization coverage
WHO and UNICEF have reviewed data available on national immunization coverage and made country-specific estimates of immunization coverage.
The interactive country profiles are now available and country summaries in pdf are accessible from the app.
Estimates were made for BCG, the first and third doses of diphtheria, tetanus toxoid and pertussis containing vaccine (DTP1 and DTP3), the third dose of polio containing vaccine - either oral polio vaccine or inactivated polio vaccine (Pol3) - the first and second doses of the inactivated polio vaccine (IPV1 and IPV2), the first and the second doses of measles containing vaccine (MCV1 and MCV2), the first dose of rubella containing vaccine (RCV1), the third dose of hepatitis B containing vaccine (HepB3), birth dose of hepatitis B vaccine (HepBB), the third dose of Haemophilus influenzae type b containing vaccine (Hib3), the third dose of pneumococcal conjugate vaccine (PcV3), regardless of recommended schedule, the second or third dose of rotavirus vaccine depending on number of doses recommended in national schedule (RotaC), yellow fever vaccine for countries at risk where vaccination is recommended (YFV) and meningococcal A conjugate vaccine (MengA) for countries located in the meningitis belt of sub-Saharan Africa where vaccine is recommended.
Estimates are made from the first-year empirical data are available, except for IPV1, for which estimates started in 2015 and for IPV2, only for OPV-using countries, for which estimates started in 2021.
These estimates are based on data officially reported to WHO and UNICEF by Member States as well as data reported in the published and grey literature following the methods that have been endorsed by external advisory groups (see below for further documentation). Global and regional estimates are produced using population estimates from the 2024 revision of the UN Population Division.
Coverage data are reviewed and the estimates updated annually. They are based on data reported until 25 June 2025. Time series will be updated in July 2026.
