Curious minds, creative ideas and a lot of code
Inspiring the next generation of digital innovators through Coding Class
Recently, we welcomed students from Sundbyøster Elementary School to our Copenhagen headquarters to present the IT products they’d developed as part of the Coding Class programme. Over the course of five weeks, the students learned to code and explored how technology can make a difference.
Their assignment was to develop an IT product that could help children with diabetes remember to take their daily medication – an opportunity to use technology for meaningful impact. Working in teams, the students presented their final solutions to our consultants, Nicoline Kjær and Emil Wittendorff.

According to the students’ teacher, Victor Telvig, the programme offered valuable insight into how ideas evolve into real-world products:
»I believe Coding Class has helped show the students what a career in IT might look like. Working hands-on with technology has made them more curious about the importance of IT and what work lies behind many of the digital services and apps they use daily.«
Victor also hopes the experience helped broaden the students’ perspective on entrepreneurship and responsibility.
»They’ve learned what it takes to create something from scratch and how to use their creativity in new ways that benefit others. Seeing their journey from idea to finished product has been inspiring, and I believe it’s made a real impact on many of them.«
He adds that the students were especially engaged because the project felt more significant than their usual schoolwork. Presenting their ideas to professionals from Netcompany gave the experience a real-world dimension that sparked motivation.

Nicoline Kjaer, one of the consultants who reviewed the students’ work, shares why she chooses to take part in Coding Class:
»It’s incredibly inspiring to see the creativity the students bring. Unlike adults, they don’t limit themselves to assumptions – they let their ideas go in all sorts of directions. I hope I can help make the experience fun and open their eyes to what IT is and how it can be used to solve problems.«
